BEFORE THE CONTESTS
After the arrival to the billeting area or camp, we coaches and co-coaches gathered for a Solidarity Meeting at the Benguet Closed Gymnasium. There were 7 districts with entries to the events Muay Thai and Wushu. So there were Weigh-in of athletes, and match-ups for the bout numbers. That way we know the order of fights or bouts. There were drawlots for the match-ups which made it more of a fair arrangement of fights.
CONTESTS FOR MUAY THAI AND WUSHU
As we will be having a boxing ring, it was enough to hold the fights for Muay Thai and Wushu. We just agreed on the other adjustments, at least we will not need to travel to Baguio City Camp 7 Wushu gym to have our fight numbers. We only have 6 fights for the 6 Wushu athletes anyway. For the muay thai, some athletes were convinced to participate from Wushu. Who took some videos? Well, the games went not really nice and well. Still, call it part of learning experience.
AWARDING
Well, this is the best part of every game. After putting in all your best efforts that you see the results. How we performed compared to other athletes as judged by the well-oriented Technical Officials. It's the highlights of the whole competition for the athletes. TUBLAY, WIN!
AFTER GAMES TREAT
Our team's Wushu Chaperon and Muay Thai Co-coach Natalia Salming treated us to an early dinner. It was a more stomach-rewarding round after the choosy diet of the athletes for the previous weeks and months in preparation for their different weight categories. Mabuhay Tublay, Mabuhay si mam Salming! and Congratulations to all the athletes.
